We Reach the Stage, We Warming Up

June 10th, 2006 | By: Stacy-Marie Ishmael | 23 Comments »

One hour to kickoff!

Are you ready? Are you wearing something red and have a bandana to wave to the sweet, sweet sounds of soca music? Are you ready to be a part of history?

I can’t wait, I can’t wait.

Fearless leader Bob and the tech-gurus behind the worldcupblog have been working overtime to make your reading experience nothing short of spectacular. While I’ll be cheering the Warriors on from a bar in London (with no access to a computer), the worldcupblog team will be Live Blogging the match, so you won’t miss a thing. In the meanwhile, check out their T&T vs Sweden Preview – and leave your thoughts on their prediction of a 9-3 massacre in the comments!

We reach the stage, we warming up, throw your hands up in the air

Let me be the first to congratulate T&T!

Hislop was, of course, brilliant. I was also extremely impressed by Sancho and Edwards in back.

You also showed some sharp and intelligent passing in midfield.

Well-played, and good luck the rest of the tournament. I’ll be rooting for the Soca Warriors for the rest of the tournament (until, against the odds, they meet the US)

Cheers.

Congratulations to Trinidad and Tobago, Shaka Hislop was amazing and the defence were just great.

If there’s one thing to be learnt from Trinidad, it’s called chilling.

If the world-class multi-million euro defenders learnt to relax and chill like the Trinidad defenders, then they wouldn’t be making so many mistakes.

Go for gold, sky is the limit. The World Cup is there for the taking!

First, this is one of those moments we remember for life.

Second, Shaka, Dwight, Edwards, Sancho – dem fellas played, showing the world that we were never really under or dogs: we were ready mentally, much more than we had realised, and 10 men playing for 1.2 million can do miracles.

Third, I so proud, for all of we, for all those home who sleeping happy, happy like papi tonight. For those Trinis in Germany who can hold they heads up high and say, ‘yes, I am a Soca Warrior’. And, for all of us, all over who shouted and jumped up and down in our houses. Yes, we too are Warriors, Soca Warriors.

Now, if Patrick, Bas and all of jokers home, can play as well and realise what the goal is. Then, they too can become Soca Warriors.
