“You could see in the game today that there are no more small fish in international football. My boys put the big boys in their place tonight. … This is football, not mathematics and two plus two very seldom equals four, usually it’s three or five. … Look at their players from big clubs like Juventus and Arsenal and Anderlecht, look at ours from San Juan Jabloteh and New England Revolution…and look what we did. This is the beauty of our game.” Leo Beenhakker

Congratulations Trinidad & Tobago on an absolutely marvelous performance. I found myself crying when the final whistle blew because I was so proud of your team and the effort they gave. I’ve never had the pleasure of visiting your country (yet), but through my own long involvement in sports I have known several soccer and field hockey players who came to the U.S. to attend college and every single one of them was among the nicest, most friendly people I have ever met. I remember watching Shaka Hislop play in college at Howard University. That’s been about 17 or 18 years ago. It’s incredible that after all this time he has become a hero in the World Cup! Best of luck the rest of the way (especially against England). And thanks to your team for an afternoon of joy!

WOWW.. That is all I can say for now. I am not a Trinidadian but I am from the Caribbean and that outstanding performance against Sweden was more than what was required from the Soca Warriors. Seeing that no one gave them a chance at all, they came out victorious, it felt like a win. The journey has a few more corners to go. This Thursday against England, the Soca Warriors will come out on top again…trust me
