This Week – Warriors’ Documentary; Justin Hoyte blanks T&T; Yorke fields more offers; Dennis Lawrence is on top of the world

  • But aye aye, look mih boys on TV yes! – The Soca Warriors Documentary: The Journey Now Start was launched in Trinidad on Thursday night. Chronicling the Warriors’ historic achievement (qualifying for the World Cup for the first time), the 90 minute long feature showcases the best and the worst of our journey to Germany. Including the many faces of Jack Warner: “Special tribute is paid to Warner, who is portrayed as the main man behind the ‘Soca Warriors’ success, having funded the campaign when very few were willing to invest their money. Warner recalled having to mortgage his house for $35,000 to help the national football team during the early 1990’s. He also spoke of death threats and having to take refuge in the Canadian embassy during his attempt to become CONCACAF president many years ago.” The Trinidad Express has the rest of the story.
  • Hoyte doh business with T&T – Said the Sunderland fullback: “It is great that I’m being looked at but I won’t be making myself eligible for Trinidad and Tobago when I’m still hopeful of continuing my progress with England.” More at SunderlandToday(Ed: STEUPS at his arrogance)
  • Fergie: Yorke, come lime by we nah – Man U’s Fergie has offered Yorke the opportunity to train at Old Trafford when the Aussie season ends. Yorke, with more of his recent world class tactical diplomacy, replied: “I’ve had an offer to train with United but I know I need games too. I haven’t accepted it yet, but I’d like to say thanks to Alex Ferguson.” Check out the rest of story at SportNetwork
  • Dennis Lawrence: Just doing his thing – As we’ve reported before, Dennis Lawrence has an extremely good head on his shoulders. In a recent interview with the Wrexham Daily Post, Lawrence said, “it would be wrong to say I’m not enjoying the attention to some extent but it’s very easy to go over the top, so I’m trying to keep a lid on what I get involved with and I make sure I do things in a positive way.” The article, and some interesting discussion, are available over at the Soca Warriors’ Online Forums.
