Voodoo Warriors

(Title taken from the report by Lasana Liburd)

The dark arts seem to be every where this week. Fearless Leader Bob elightens us as to where we can acquire the requisite kit, whilst the tabloid hacks over at the Daily Star in London are accusing the Soca Warriors of sticking needles in Becks dolls.

As we would say in Trinidad, STEUPS.

As if FIFA telling the world that we believed in a mysterious footballing entity weren’t enough, now the Warrior Nation are being portrayed as pin-wielding heretics.

According to the Star, as part of our preparations for our June 15 clash with the Queen’s men, we “crafty Caribbeans have sacrificed cockerels in secret rituals.”

We are not amused.

We don’t need cockerels or beach-blonde voodoo dolls to spur our boys to victory. We’ve got our red tshirts and riddim sections. And, of course, Jumbieno.
