Time To Put On Your White Clothes

June 20th, 2006 | By: Stacy-Marie Ishmael | 15 Comments »

One of my all-time favourite soca songs is called Glow, by Alison Hinds and David Rudder. It is six Carnivals old, having been released back in 2001.

The song is a tribute to the popular “Glow” fete in Trinidad, the premise of which is that everyone wears white in a venue lit by ultraviolet lights. The effect is ethereal.

“Wear white, aim for higher heights, wear white, only white we wearing tonight”

Tonight we’re wearing white against Paraguay.

Come on Warriors – higher heights await.

Soca Warriors Go.

I couldn’t find a better place to watch the game than in jolly old Glasgow – where the Tartan army are more suportive to the T&T cause and laugh at Crouch being a player!!!

But for the first time in their history, and probably the last, we ALL hope English to do well – seing as we can’t have them knocked out in the first round, ha ha.

Bout time T&T score a delicious goal and then show the world a PROPER celebration!!!

REACHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

God’s richest blessings to the team, our prayers here in Trinidad and Tobago are with them, no doubt about it, if they move on to the second round we’ll go into history; however, win or lose, we are still proud of our warriors.

Stacy-Marie stellar, stellar job on this blog star.
I feel big big tings to come for you and the Soca Warriors :)
This morning in Trinidad, rain rain rain blessings. People out in their national colours. They are waiting, waiting … threatening biche. The country may just come to a stand-still at kick-off.
No matter what the outcome though know these streets will run red … red, black and white long into the night

Dear Lord bless the boys in red white and black.

Join us as we come together as a nation to cheer our warriors
May we forever remember that our nation,
whose motto is “Together We Aspire Together We Achieve

Join on this special occasion where our Soca Warriors,

Show the world that our country is made up of team players

That we can work together to achieve our goals.

Grant our Warriors wisdom from Thy mind,
courage from Thine heart,
strength from Thine Feet,
and confidence within

It is for Thee that we do battle,
and to Thee belongs the victor’s crown.

May you bless our country Trinidad and Tobago

As we battle at the World Cup 2006,

May we as a country stand together in support of our warriors!!!

Amen!
