The not-so-beautiful game
Fearless leader Bob has been keeping us all updated about the potential for violence in Germany this summer with his excellent Hooliganwatchâ„¢.
For various reasons, football brings out the worst in people. Yesterday, Arsenal destroyed Juventus. Yesterday, a couple of Arsenal thugs hospitalised two of my friends. It was a triumph of senseless violence over ‘joga benito.’
The German officials are still hemming and hawing over whether the steelpan will be allowed inside the stadia come June. But Croatian hooligans shouldn’t have too difficult a time crossing the border. I hope those Arsenal thugs – and the rest of their English counterparts – won’t be joining them.
