Trinidad and Tobago

The Butt of All Jokes

It’s not enough to compare the twin-island republic of T&T to a cigarette manufacturer these days.

We’ve been mentioned in the slick gaget magazine T3 in connection with the Sony PS3.

I quote:

Sony has so far kept schtum over the release date for the PlayStation 3, vaguely murmuring something about the spring every now and again, but with this timeframe looking about as likely as a Trinidad and Tobago World Cup win

Let’s think about this.

T&T is ranked 51st in the world at the moment, according to the latest FIFA rankings. Togo and Angola, teams which have also qualified for this summer’s World Cup, are ranked 59th and 60th respectively. No one’s really making jibes about the Sparrow Hawks or the Impalas.

Mexico, who we trounced 2-1 in our last match up, are ranked sixth, alongside Spain and the USA.

Which means? That it’s more likely that T&T will hoist that beautiful trophy than Sony will ship the PS3 anytime soon.

And that statistics can be used to support absolutely any contention you can think of.

As they say, Ignorance is Bliss. People are just ignorant about the team and the country. They will learn when the Soca Warriors play well this summer. Until then, let them think we are a minnow.
