Should We Focus on England?

Believe me Soca Warriors fans, I know how much you want to beat England. It would give me no greater satisfaction than to dance with joy after slaying the Three Lions. But I am a little concerned that the England game is all we are focusing on. If I am not mistaken, we’ve got three games in the first round and only one of them is against England.

If we are serious about our trip to Germany we need to be serious about what we intend to do there. For me, I’d rather see us lose to England and advance from the group then beat England and get booted from the group.

So first thing’s first. We need to find a way to stop Sweden. Whatever Ireland did yesterday in beating Sweden 3-0 we need to do it and then some! If we can get by the Swedes than we will be riding high into the England game. Even if we lose to England then, we still would have a shot to advance against Paraguay.

So you see, instead of even thinking about England, my thoughts are focused on Sweden. I hope our boys look at it the same way.
