Should he stay or should he go? Yorke ponders his future - UPDATED
All right Dwight - what is your real scene? Are you staying with Sydney FC? Going to the Japanese J-League? Coming back to England? Your public wants to know…
ABC Sydney cites Yorke as saying:
“I have got a contract with Sydney FC for the next year. Whether that exists now I’m not sure. I can honestly say anything could happen within that period of time but as far as I know, I’m contracted to be back here next season.”
Then there’s this quote atSportal.com:
“So that the record is put straight I have signed a two-year contract with Sydney but also behind the scenes I have been told that I can go.”
And of course, the Aussie Sunday Times with this gem:
“I’m disappointed that they told me I can go but I’ve got a two-year contract and that says a lot,” Yorke said. “All my things are set up here for two years. There’s lots of interest - there’s a few things - but nothing has been done.”
UPDATE: After days of rumours swirling around that Yorke is being ‘pushed out’ by Sydney, the club has responded by saying that “it wanted Yorke to return for the 2006-2007 season when it kicks off in five months time.” Read the latest at Fox Sports’ Total Football
So Sydney’s not firing Yorke. But will he quit anyway?
