I Solemnly Swear

Today I’m continuing my Soca Warriors Supporters’ Handbook series. A month ago I posted a short how-to covering the basics (including the talk, the walk and the kit). Here are some more items to add to that list.

The journey continuesBy now you should have memorised the T&T National Anthem, and, of course, the Warrior Anthem. You are ready to “vibes it up” and your Warrior Nation garb is prepped and waiting.

Ready for the next round? Good.

Place your hand on your heart and repeat after me:

I solemnly pledge to dedicate my voice, legs, arms and any body part needed, to the service of the Soca Warriors.
My actions must aid them in scoring a goal or prevent them conceding one.
I will honour the red, white and black regardless of my location on planet earth.
I will always say do and never say die, unless I am referring to the opposition.
I will not be silent, no matter the state of the game.
I will strive to release the warrior inside of me so that the 12th man would be most present.
Because I am neither black nor Indian nor Chinese nor Syrian nor Caucasian nor Spanish nor any other ethnic group – I am a Soooooooooca Warrior

Now dry your eyes and go forth proudly into the world. The Warriors need you.

Do you dare to venture a guess how successful Trinidad and Tobago will be this summer?

Do you want the the die-hard Warrior (optimist) answer or the cool, measured response (pragmatic)? ;)
