Fergie: Come on Warriors, beat England!
Good old Alex Ferguson. He and Svengali are already in a bit of a spat because of the England coach’s insistence on taking (a rapidly healing) Rooney to the World Cup. I’m sure his latest comments to the Duke of Yorke will do wonders for his relationship with the Swede.
Yorke was speaking to the press about his recently-completed training sessions with Manchester United, when he revealed that “[Ferguson] will be toasting a good World Cup for us, especially when we play England.” Yorke added, “I’m not saying exactly what he told me …but let’s just say he’ll be more than happy if we get a result against them.”
High-profile support for the Warriors is increasing with each passing day. Sir Alex Salmond, leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), has openly pledged his support for T&T, whilst cannily denying that his alliegance was designed to irk England: “I don’t support teams against England, but I think Trinidad and Tobago have some interesting Scottish players playing for them. That’s the nearest we’re getting to the World Cup.”
Ah football. Uniting fans around the world, and dividing empires at the same time.
